In Fuerteventura we surf the waves of accessibility

On April 24, Fuerteventura was not only sun and beach: it became the epicenter of social innovation.

APTENT actively participated in the First Conference on Technology for Accessibility and Inclusion in the Canary Islands, a pioneering event organized by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura that brought together professionals, institutions and companies committed to building a more inclusive society.

Because true innovation is not measured in technological advances, but in how many lives it manages to transform.

And there we were ready to make a difference with COPLA, being an active part of an urgent and necessary conversation: how do we design an accessible future in which all voices can be heard and understood?

Technology that connects, transforms and includes

During our presentation, we presented accessible solutions that are already making a difference in cultural, educational and social environments. Among them, we highlight:

  • Live captioning, to ensure access to information in real time.
  • STARTIT, an accessibility tool compatible with COPLA.
  • Automatic translation, with COPLA we translate into more than 100 languages.

All these measures are not a “plus”, they are necessary conditions for information and culture to be truly universal. This is what we expressed during the conference:

Accessibility is not an add-on, it is a condition for equal participation,” the team pointed out.

A day to learn, connect and build

The event was an opportunity to weave alliances, share good practices and get inspired by other innovative initiatives at the regional level. We were able to listen to leading figures such as Gabriel Gorce, Paralympic medalist, as well as professionals and users who shared real experiences of how technology can transform lives.

COPLA and APTENT also emphasize the need for cross-cutting and effective accessibility, which is present from the design of content, spaces and services. Because when technology is put at the service of people, it becomes a powerful tool for real inclusion.

We do not only comply with regulations, but we break down barriers, open up opportunities and dignify the full participation of all people.
